Humaira Asghar Ali born in  1992 in Lahore was a former model and late actress, qualified painter, sculptor and humanitarian. Her story, filled with artistic passion and personal strength, ended in a heartbreaking and mysterious tragedy that continues to raise many questions.

Family Background:

She was born in a well qualified family where both the parents have had served the military.

 Her father was from Srinagar and mother from Kasur. They both met for the first time while serving in the military. Her bringing up was never ordinary as she had a very perfectionist father and a caring home-loving mother.

Siblings:

She had a total of four siblings, two brothers and two sisters including herself. The elder brother Sohail Asghar Ali, the second oldest Naveed Asghar Ali , then a sister (name not disclosed) and then the Pakistani actress and former model Humaira Asghar Ali.

Early Education:

After her early education, she went to National College of Arts (NCA) Lahore, where she studied painting and sculpturing. Later, she joined Punjab University for her Masters in Fine Arts and afterwards, she pursued her M.Phil. degree. 

Besides her acting and modelling career, she was a qualified painter and sculptor. Before her unfortunate death, she was planning for her painting exhibition. The paintings for the exhibition were also in progress.

Modelling and Acting Career:

She started her career from modelling. She shifted from Lahore to Karachi in 2018 with her parent’s consent to explore broader opportunities. She rented an apartment on the 3rd floor of a building in Ittehad Commercial Area in DHA Karachi. Here is the building she lived in:

Rise to Fame through Tamasha:

Her popularity rose to sky when she joined a very famous reality show “Tamasha-Season 1“, as a contestant. It was stated that she backed off from two dramas role to participate in the reality show. The opportunity came really big to her as the show was really hyped and well marketed. 

 

She once said,

             “I was so shocked when the reality hit me that I am gonna participate in a show with no mobile, no social media, no friends, no family and outings for two months straight. I once thought of rejection but my Lahori novelty kicked in and I went for it confidently and dynamically.” 

It’s crystal clear that she wasn’t a mess mentally at all and was confident, assured, assertive, poised and optimistic.

Fitness and Discipline:

She was a fitness freak. She told that she believes in finding & exploring different sides of herself and soul and exercises different methods for the purpose.

 She was firm about her discipline and would make sure to abide by laws set up for her  by herself. She was known to have high standards for herself and would guarantee to meet them.

Awards and Recognition:

She was also awarded “National Women’s Leadership Award” under “Best Emerging Talent and Rising Star” category in Governor House, Karachi.  She was acknowledged for her humanitarian efforts and her role in encouraging women.

Dispute with the Landlord:

From the investigations and videos online, it is confirmed that late actress and the landlord had some issues starting from 2019 when one day Mir Wais Khan, the landlord came and told her to evacuate the apartment. On this untimely and sudden demand, Humaira Ali went to court and a stay order was released from court to the tenant Humaira Ali. 

 

After that, it came to light that the late actress would pay two or three months rent to the court in advance; and would allegedly block the landlord’s number.  It clarifies the presence of a certain anger and dispute between the two parties.

Circumstances in the Building:

She continued to stay in the same building from 2019 to 2024 till her demise. The rent was paid to the court according to the decision. 

For unknown and unclarified reasons, her death had already happened around October 2024. Investigations report that her electric supply was cut off since October 2024, due to unpaid bills while she had already deposited the rental amount till May 2025. Four months, June, July, August, and September, when the rent was not paid, the landlord headed to court and filed a case against her for not paying the rent on time despite the agreement.

She was summoned to the court and notices were sent but since no one came to the door, they were pasted on the door but surprisingly, no one smelled the decomposing body that has been lying there since past few months.

Discovery of Dead Body:

Since, she could not go to the court, the order of court was obvious; Mir Wais Khan won the case and by the order of court, the apartment had to be forcefully evacuated. Police and a team formed  by the court was sent, the door was forcefully opened and a heart wrenching story was unveiled to the already scary world.

The body was taken in the police custody and sent to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre in Karachi.

Medical and Forensics:

Medical and forensic reports have revealed that the dead body is estimated to be around 8-9 month’s old. Firstly, it was said to be 15 days to a month old. Reports claimed that the body has reached an advanced level of decomposition where body fluids are completely decomposed, brain and pupils completely decomposed, finger nails reduced to bones, organs turned to black mass but no maggots found. Maggots are the legless larva of a fly or an insect often found in decaying matter like meat or garbage (according to google). Instead some brown insects were found in her hair.

How Severe is the Initial Decay?

Facial features are said to be unrecognizable since this is advanced decay. According to forensic experts, the initial decaying period is more harsh and the smell is intense, because initial stages of decaying involves decomposition of tissues, muscles, skin, and softer body parts. Since, the neighbors next door were out of city for five months straight during the initial decay period, they would have been more likely to notice the smell, the outage of power and lack of any communication or response at  the front door. But this could not be brought to attention of the authorities. As she stayed at the top floor, the smell could not travel from top to bottom.

Burial and the Final Rites:

After investigations by the police, her body was given under the custody of her brother who denied any family issues in a press conference in Karachi. She was buried on 11th July, 2025 in Model Town Lahore where reportedly a small number of people participated in the funeral.

 

On the opening of the apartment, many questions were raised which the higher authorities have still to answer.

Where was the family?

Where was the family of the late or friends or anyone from social circle, the neighbors, the people of the industry or colleagues? Eids passed during this time, was there no one left on the planet to wish her?

Where were the parents, siblings, the most cherished ones?

Her last call with her mother several months ago revealed that she told her mother that she is not fine and is worried and she needs support.

Were there internal family issues?

What kind of family would leave her worried kid alone and have no contact with her after that. It’s humane to not bash the family at their critical time but still a question to be answered. 

Were there issues within Siblings?

Claims by her former sister-in-law suggest potential manipulation for property control by her brother.

Was Landlord aware of Power Disconnection?

Mir Wais Khan, with whom she clearly had issues with did not counter her on her own, but went straight to court and  waited for the court’s order did not know that the electric connection in his owned apartment is cut off? Also, he did not question it or contact the electric office. Strange!

Why did no neighbors raise an alarm?

Neighbors didn’t feel anything suspicious, the electric meter was cut off, the apartment was completely locked and no one deemed it unusual. Strange!

 

A Wake Up Call:

Instead of calling it a woman’s mistake time and again, a neglected woman etc. stand up against the authorities, the government and those who are responsible and let’s question them. Demand an answer from them.

It’s gloomy and sad that incidents rather accidents of this nature are increasing and more alarming on top are the sleeping authorities.

Once asked from the late actress what she wants to be remembered as after she is no more, she said:

“I seek for a light from Allah. He is showing me and I am following it with full passion and certainty. Let’s see where it takes me! ”
